HANCOCK **Sunday June 29,2008 Will Smith makes a rare misstep with Hancock, a bold but botched effort to bring a blackly comic twist to the comic-book genre. Smith plays a drunk, sexist, misanthropic superhero, Hancock, who saves lives reluctantly and causes colossal collateral damage.
PR man Roy (Jason Bateman) attempts to give him a makeover but progress is threatened courtesy of a bizarre twist involving Roy’s wife (Charlize Theron). There’s fun in the set-up but the plot defies logic. (Cert 12A, 92 mins) |
