HER much-mooted appearance as a contestant on the American version of Strictly Come Dancing never came to pass but the Duchess of York is, we learn, being wooed to be a judge on another reality show.

American TV bosses want 47-year-old Sarah - who long ago - shed her frumpy image - to judge wannabe models on Project Runway, hosted by Heidi Klum.

The British version of the show, called Project Catwalk, has featured Liz Hurley and Kelly Osbourne.

A TV source over the pond said: "Sarah is a style icon here. The people behind Project Runway think she'd be perfect as a judge. They think she'll bring style, grace and elegance to the programme.
