LEO: I'M NO HEART-THROB

HE was the face that launched a thousand screaming girls but Leonardo DiCaprio says he’s glad to have ditched the heart-throb tag.

The 33-year-old, who arrived at the London premiere of his thriller Body Of Lies to much quieter cheers than the deafening squeals of his Titanic days, revealed his “respect” for such younger stars as Zac Efron of High School Musical.

“I look at young Zac and think, ‘Go get it pal, leave me in peace’,” said Leo, who became a global pin‑up after playing tragic hero Jack Dawson in Titanic in 1997.

“I was never happy with the teen-idol tag at all – never wanted to be a sex symbol or all that stuff. It was the work that appealed to me, really nothing else. (I have) total respect for how young stars like Zac handle it all.”

The actor, who took his mother Irmelin to the Leicester Square premiere, is beaming about the US election. “I was in Rome and stayed up all night with a group of American friends to listen to Obama’s victory speech which was prophetic and beautiful.

“I feel like a weight has been lifted. He has promised change and all we can do is support him. It has got a new generation out voting and there’s been such a positive reaction around the world.”
