ANTI-SPEED HEAD FACES PUPILS....FOR SPEEDING

When Jo Longworth said sorry to the six and seven-year-olds, one replied that she must be “gutted”. “I was,” said Mrs Longworth.

She was caught by a speed trap as she overtook a cyclist on a country lane.

Yet just this month 30 of her Year 2 pupils staged a protest on the pavement near their school, Goosnargh Oliverson’s Church of England primary, in Preston, Lancashire.

They held up placards with a happy face to drivers within the limit.

A PC with them zapped fast drivers with his speed gun.

Eight were caught speeding in an hour, two of whom agreed to go into the classroom to try to explain why.
Mrs Longworth told Year 2 it was her only offence in 20 years.

“I shared with them what I did wrong and what happened to me,” she said.

“They asked such wonderful questions and we discussed how I must have felt.

“I may be in the business of teaching children but children teach us all something new every day.”
