BENT BACKING UNDER-FIRE COMOLLI

Sunday October 12,2008

Tottenham striker Darren Bent has voiced his support for Damien Comolli, at the start of a week when the club's sporting director is again set to come under scrutiny.

Head coach Juande Ramos has also been in the spotlight. But Comolli, who scouts and signs players for the Spaniard to work with, has appeared under pressure with Spurs at the bottom of the Barclays Premier League.

Bent said of Comolli: "He's always around the place. He's a fantastic guy and one of the main reasons I came to Tottenham.

"There is no problem at the club with him whatsoever. He's been good; he is always helping the players - and that is what the players need."

Bent has scored three goals this season but is one of the players bought before the start of the last campaign that have failed to make a significant impact - along with Kevin-Prince Boateng and Younes Kaboul, the latter already sold to Portsmouth.

Ramos was also left with a lack of strikers following a summer in which Spurs lost Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, with Jermain Defoe sold in January.

Bent has revealed Ramos has been keeping calm in preparation for a massive six league games for the club - they face Stoke, Bolton, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Fulham.

"Juande has been the same," he said.

"He was the same when we won the Carling Cup last season and he is the same now. He just tells us to stay positive, and we've got good enough players to get out of it. We believe that too."
