HERE WE COME: Gerrard says Liverpool never know when they are beaten

Thursday May 3,2007

By Paul Joyce

STEVEN GERRARD has claimed Liverpool are “everybody’s nightmare” as he sets his sights on a sixth European Cup triumph.

The midfielder can follow in the footsteps of Emlyn Hughes by becoming only the second Anfield captain to lift the trophy twice.

Hughes collected the silverware in 1977 and 1978, and Gerrard is anxious to repeat his own success of Istanbul two years ago when Rafa Benitez’s side also dismissed Chelsea at the semi-final stage.

“It’s superb to be there twice in three years,” said Gerrard.

“We haven’t done well domestically but we are some side in Europe. We are everybody’s nightmare because we never know when we are beaten and that is a great attitude to have.

“All the lads deserve so much credit for the achievement.

“For me, Tuesday felt even better than the victory in the semi-final in 2005.
