WEST HAM'S WIN TO SPARK FOOTBALL WAR

If West Ham now beat the drop, any club relegated in their place will seek huge compensation from the Premier League after its commission decided to fine the club £5.5million rather than take points away for serious breaches of the rules involving the transfers of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez.

Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock said:  "If it was Sheffield United, Watford or Wigan, I think there would have been points deducted if I'm honest. They have made a rod for their own back. Everyone knows that you can do anything you want now and you won't have points deducted." 

The seemingly massive fine is actually quite small compared to the cost of relegation, which can be as much as £45m.

I can reveal that Fulham are considering their legal alternatives - and the other clubs down at the bottom are also about to consult their legal teams.

Fulham want two points back because Tevez played against them in a drawn Premiership match against the Hammers.
If Fulham are successful than other clubs might want to follow suit opening the floodgates in an attempt to reconfigure the Premiership table.

Fulham's legal team will study the implications before deciding whether to launch a formal action.

One Fulham official told me: "We lost two points against West Ham when Tevez played - and there are also the financial consequences."
