£20M FOR ASHTON! ARE SPURS THE NEW CHELSEA?
Dean Ashton has been linked with a move to Tottenham

SPURS' summer spending looks set to reach twice as much as Chelsea's as it emerged today that they are upping their initial offer for Dean Ashton.
The White Hart Lane club are reportedly considering a fee of £20m for the West Ham star - which would take their closed-season spending spree up to £50million.
The Hammers are reluctant to sell their main striker, after having sold Bobby Zamora to Fulham and Craig Bellamy's latest injury and reportedly rejected the first offer of £15m for the England forward.
But Spurs seem intent on persuading the Hammers with money in what has been a summer of crazy spending for Juande Ramos's side.
They have already splashed out on John Bostock, Heurelho
Gomes, Luka Modric, Giovani dos Santos and David Bentley - in deals worth twice that of Chelsea's summer spending which has only reached around £25m.
A move for Ashton would ease the pressure on the Spurs front line following Robbie Keane's move to Liverpool and doubts over the future of Dimitar Berbatov.
DON'T BOTHER

He is not for sale, so the Spuds need to sling their hooks. We are not about to weaken ourselves for the benefit of North London. Now any reasonable journalist will see this is a non-starter in as far as Bellamy is injured again, Cole is not a starter and Sears isn't yet ready. That £20 million etc would be no good to us if we can't replace Ashton and once and for all we do not need the money and are not a selling club; we actually have the same ambitions as the Spuds, so this is a non-starter!!
