NOW THE UNIONS GANG UP ON BROWN

Gordon Brown was last night fighting for his political life as once-loyal union leaders turned on him in the wake of Labour’s historic by-election collapse.
The enfeebled Prime Minister – left scalded by his Glasgow East drubbing – was confronted with a string of more than 100 demands from union barons wanting to control the Government.
And in a sinister signal of growing industrial militancy, one senior union leader called for beleaguered Mr Brown to be ousted. GMB chief Paul Kenny claimed that only dumping the Prime Minister could save Labour from meltdown.
His intervention was being seen last night as a warning shot in an epic new battle over who runs Britain.
It followed a by-election swing of 22.54 per cent against Labour, so bad that even Mr Brown would lose his seat if a similar result were recorded at the next general election.
Senior Tories warned that the weakened Government – and the financially broke Labour Party – were now dangerously in hock to the unions.

The Tory frontbencher Chris Grayling warned: “The union barons are back with a vengeance. And they want their pound of flesh.”
Feuding over the direction of the Government erupted at Labour’s National Policy Forum at Warwick University last night, held to draw up the first draft of the party’s next general election manifesto.
The shopping list of more than 100 demands from the brothers included scrapping curbs on strike action and secondary picketing, new workplace rights and free school meals for all primary children.
And they also want higher taxes to squeeze the better-paid and inflation-busting wage deals for public-sector workers.
Mr Kenny shattered the thin veneer of labour movement support for Mr Brown by blaming him for the swing against Labour that handed the Scottish Nationalist Party a historic triumph.
The GMB leader said: “There’s no point dressing it up. It was an unmitigated disaster.
“The reality is people gave a big thumbs-down to the Labour Party. If you don’t accept that, you’ve got nowhere to go.”
He urged Labour MPs to rise up and turf out the Prime Minister.
“The MPs have got to make a strong decision as to whether they want to go into an election with Gordon Brown or have a contest,” he said.
And Tony Woodley, leader of the powerful Unite union, demanded a radical swing to the Left by the Government. He said: “It’s time for intervention, intervention, intervention by the Labour Party.”
Mr Brown pleaded for restraint from the unions in his speech to the labour movement gathering yesterday.
He claimed there could be “no return” to the mass industrial militancy of the 1970s and 1980s. And he insisted: “My task is to get on with the job of taking us through these difficult economic times.”
But he struggled to raise Labour morale shattered by the Glasgow East defeat.
Party chiefs were in shock after a 13,500-vote majority in the once rock-solid Labour constituency was overturned by the SNP.
The victorious candidate, 51-year-old accountant John Mason, said last night: “The people of Glasgow East have spoken for the whole of the country.”
Celebrating his spectacular triumph over Labour, he said: “We have sent a message to Gordon Brown. It’s time for action, time for him to listen.”
Last night a new opinion poll indicated that Mr Brown is facing a similar revolt by voters across the country.
A survey by ComRes gave the Tories a 22 per cent lead over Labour. It put the Conservatives on 46 per cent, Labour on 24 per cent and the Lib Dems on 18 per cent.

Responding to Martin28, GB is not responsible for ALL the problems but the point is that he is totally out of his depth ad unable to handle them.It is what is called the Peter Principle, promoted above his abilities. Yes, Blair knew there was trouble ahead, did not consider Brown up to the job but could do nothing about it. He did not really go, he was pushed.
There is little point in abusing Brown. He spins and is devious like all politicians and won't go until he is pushed.
It is too late to replace him and there is actually, poor as he is, no one better in view. All the names mentioned as possible replacements are likely to prove even worse.
The only practical solution is a General Election before Labour is completely destroyed and a period in opposition to reform and re-organise. By 2010 it will be too late even for that and Labour will be where the Liberals are now for at least a generation.

why did i vote all those years ago for labour..i always ask myself that question when i see the news and see what a terrible state the countries in cause by Labour, I do feel that Mr Brown is destroying the labour party and its going to take them many years to recover.
Although i personally think that Mr Brown was given a dead duck, Mr Blair knew there were problems and got out before he could be blamed for any more troubles to hit the party, like a rat he fled the sinking ship.

GB is rightly saying that he is getting on with the job and is not quitting before it is completed. He is destroying the Labour Party and there is no reason to stop him now. There is little that Cameron can do at the moment so best strategy is to wait calmly untile Brown has finished after which he can look forward to a long time as PM.

Gordon and the labour party betrayed this nation as follow:
They introduced the Islamic multicultural society, whereby Muslims flocks into UK in the name of immigration but actually a jihad to change the demograhy of UK and then take over the Parliament by imposing Sharia upon this God forsken nation
Gordon and labour discriminates against Judea-Christian cultural heritage upon which is the bedrock on which a decent society and laws are made in favour of Islam, Sharia, Koran, Homosexuality, anti Christian, anti jews but pro Arabs, and Muslims in UK.
Gordon and comrades removed the teaching of Bible knowledge from high School in favour of Koran.
And Islamic clerics are now in Britain School forcing our children to pray to Mohammed and learn the Koran. And if our children objects to pray Islamic prayer they are disciplined because the did not show respect to Islam and accommodate Muslims and make happy that they are being integrated and accommodated.
The largest Mosque or the Mega Mosque that is currently under construction in London has to take precedent over a christian ministry because Gordon and Labour want to please the Saudi's so as to grease their palms with petro dollar.
Marriage the holy uinon of man and woman have been decimated by Labour and Gordon in favour of Homosexuality, bestiality, trans-sexualism and all sorts of things that the human mind can conceive. They legislated that there is no right nor wrong, i.e. there no white or black, or evil or good that every thing has to be given a positive construction regardless of their rightness.
The Sexual Orientation legislation passed by Gordon and Labour was an act of defiance against the Bible view that such act is sinful and abomination before the Lord thy God.
Parental right to teach and nuture their children in the admonition of God was taken away by Gordon and labour, instead they forced our children to learn how to have safe sex by giving them cordoms in school, as well as morning pills in complete ignorance of the parents.
Gordon and Labour encouraged the break up of families by a punitive tax measure intended to discourage couples from tieing the knots so as to continue to live in and fornication. No wonder we now have in Britain the highest number of single mothers with children from multiple fathers who are absent to provide a role model for their offsprings and with the attendant consequences of knives, guns and drugs and violence perpetraded by children as young as nine years old
The reason is they would not like the children's innocence to be respected so that Gordon and the Labour can paedophile our children by brain washing them with message that it is perfectly ok for you to have sex and defile your body prior to Marriage. No wonder UK has the highest children pregnancy In western Europe as well as highest abortion rate. Our children could procure abortion in school without their parents knowledge and consent all paid by the heavy tax burden imposed on the hard working citizens who want to do the right thing but gets short changed and punished for compliance with the law.
Gordon and labour put into statues book the right of criminals, hoodlums, Islamic terrorists over the victims of terror and invasion of privacy. Thus I would be sued by a criminal who breaks into my house for defending my property.
Gordon and Labour lied to this nation that they would allow a referendum on the EU constitution which was later rebranded the Lisbon treaty so as to evade the UK from having the say.
Gordon Brown defied the French, the Netherland, and Irish referendum by going ahead to ratify a dead Lisbon treaty as against out cry from the British subject not to do so. He is arrogant, proud and dispiteful of the electorates because he knew he was never elected and would like give UK into the hands of unelected, unaccountable corrupt, inept, incompetent EU bureacrates, so as to secure for himself a position later at the expense of the sovereignty of this nation.
David Davis should have been in the list provided for a vote, and I think he understands the peril that is is facing UK both from the leftist Liberal immorals who says evil is good and good is evil as well as the unslaught from the elements of Islamic Jehad that wants to take over this nation.
We need a man of Priciple, conviction,and a one that would throw out this rubish Political correctness and the EU human right law out of the window. Though I voted for David Cameron out the list provided, because I could not find anyone of these that has the heart of steel and iron to take back this nation from the hands of the Leftist Liberal immorals appeasers that has ran this nation under the ground.
