UK NEWSNOSTALGIA RULES FOR DONNY AND MARIE
Donny and Marie: Appearing together in Las Vegas Saturday July 19,2008 By Elisa RocheIN a figure-hugging silver dress and with a glossy mane of hair, this head-turning pop star could easily pass for Dannii Minogue or Cheryl Cole. But this is no chart newcomer – it’s veteran country singer Marie Osmond, who, at 48, clearly still has the X Factor that puts younger stars inthe shade. Along with older brother Donny, 50, she is appearing at the Hollywood Theatre in Las Vegas until Christmas in a variety of dazzling costumes. “All the budget went on Marie’s dresses,” joked Donny. “Although, I’ll be dancing in leather and silver zoot suits myself.” The concert series marks a grand reunion for Donny and Marie, who had their own TV variety show from 1976 to 1979, and their six-month Vegas run will try to recreate the original format. “Nostalgia is really back in fashion,” said Donny. “I don’t know if we will be wearing purple socks again but it’s going to be great fun.”
