HELOISE & THE SAVOIR FAIRE: TRASH, RATS AND MICROPHONES (SIMIAN RECORDS) **

Story Image

Friday July 18,2008

By Emily Garnham

Heloise & The Savoir Faire’s first offering of kitsch electro punk plays on New York cool.

The band is fronted by vintage fashion buyer Heloise Williams and Debbie Harry - who guested on the new album - is a fan.

And they were signed by Elijah Wood's record label.

Their retro sound – late-70s disco infused dance punk and 80s synth pop – is refreshed by funky bass beats and bongos.

But unfortunately the lyrics are rather Des'Ree –  a simplistic mish-mash of rhyming words that the hooky beats compensate for.
