VEHICLE TAX 'REFORM' WILL DRIVE US CLOSER TO RUIN
THE economic situation is dire enough without the Government making it worse.
But Labour’s insatiable appetite for tax-raising measures threatens to do just that.
Yesterday’s revelation that nearly nine million car owners will pay more vehicle excise duty thanks to the Treasury’s plan to “reform” the charge shows that ministers have completely lost the plot.
If there is any case for green taxation, it must surely be aimed at influencing people’s future behaviour.
There can be no environmental justification whatever for punishing people for past decisions taken in good faith.
By proposing to send VED rates through the roof for cars bought as long ago as 2001, Chancellor Alistair Darling is delivering a shattering blow to millions of hard-pressed families.
At a time when living standards are under pressure and consumer confidence and spending power needs boosting, Mr Darling is planning another turn of the screw.
His VED plans will also cut the resale value of many cars to close to zero, meaning that their owners will be less able to switch to more environmentally friendly models.
So much for saving the planet.
Even in the annals of Labour incompetence, it is difficult to think of a more perverse or disastrous set of measures.
Britain simply cannot afford such woeful political leadership.

I read this article and was impressed by how succinctly the case was put for the real Motives behind the actions of this horrendous new Labour government......

It fits like a glove does it not?...
Gordon Brown and his glib little friend Tony Beliar, have set us up to be good little European slaves.
Better off OUT of the EU Soviet.
