Delighted parents Nicole and Keith

Tuesday July 8,2008

By Elisa Roche

MONDAY’S child is fair of face – and Nicole Kidman’s daughter, born yesterday, must certainly have inherited the beauty gene.

So bonnie and blythe is she, indeed, that her parents have named her Sunday.

Nicole, 41, and country singer husband Keith Urban were yesterday said to be “delighted” at their healthy new arrival and immediately chose the unusual first name.

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban was delivered at a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, weighing in at just under seven pounds. “Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted,” said the actress’s agent, Allen Eichhorn. “Keith was by Nicole’s side and mother and baby are very well.”

Sunday is Nicole’s first biological child – she is also adoptive mother to Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12, from her first marriage to Tom Cruise.

Nicole’s parents, Janelle and Anthony, flew in from her native Australia to be at her side and, according to some reports, to help with the delivery. Her father is a doctor and her mother a nurse.

Nicole is said to have chosen the  second name after her favourite flower, the rose, which has been a constant symbol of her love for Urban since they wed in 2006. She carried a simple white rose bouquet up the aisle when she married Urban two years ago, where guests sat underneath floral chandeliers, also made from roses.

Nicole then wore a tiny posy of white roses in her hair when she and Keith flew to Australia to spend their first Christmas together the same year.

And when the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary on June 25 Nicole received a huge bunch of roses from her devote d husband.

On Saturday Keith performed at a concert in Nashville while his wife watched from backstage, protectively tapping her bump along to the music. Keith joked with the crowd: “I’m going to dedicate a song to my very, very, very, very, very pregnant wife.”

Having given birth safely will be a huge relief – Nicole suffered both an ectopic pregnancy and a miscarriage during her marriage to Top Gun star Cruise.

Leading psychologist Richard Wiseman says Sunday may prove to be a lucky name.

Strange names can make people seem more successful, lucky or attractive, he says, and that unusual names can be character-building too.

Just in case you were wondering, graceful Nicole was born on a Tuesday. No surprise at all.
