SHOULD ALL CAR CLAMPING BE OUTLAWED?

Story Image

Saturday June 28,2008

CARS will no longer be clamped or towed away under new driver-friendly parking rules.

Westminster council in central London yesterday became the first authority to ditch the draconian penalties.

Other councils are expected to follow suit after new guidance from the Department for Transport.

The RAC last night described the move as a breakthrough for common sense.

Deputy director Sheila Rainger said: “These new guidelines say parking enforcement should not be about making money but keeping traffic moving.

The Association of British Drivers also welcomed the move. “This is good news for the motorist,” a spokesman said.

But what do YOU think?

Are you fed up with clamps? Have you had a nightmare car clamping story of your own?

Should ALL car slamping be outlawed?
