UK NEWSBROWN SHOULD QUIT NOW, SAY LABOUR VOTERSMonday June 23,2008 By Gabriel Milland Political CorrespondentA CRUSHING majority of Labour voters think Gordon Brown should quit before a General Election, a poll has found. The survey of grassroots supporters revealed that 60 per cent want the Prime Minister to stand down before he is due to go to the electorate in 2010.
It shows that, a year into his Premiership, Mr Brown is now more unpopular with Labour party members than he is with the general public, only 44 per cent of whom want him to leave Downing Street immediately.[>
The opinion poll, carried out by website labourhome.org, asked: “How much time would you be prepared to give Gordon Brown to begin reversing Labour’s fortunes before you would want him to step aside?”[>
Just 37.6 per cent agreed that he was the best man to lead the party next time they face the voters.[>
And 17.9 per cent wanted him to step down immediately while 28 per cent were only willing to give him until Labour’s annual conference at the end of September.[>
Yesterday’s survey came just days after close allies of Mr Brown admitted that he already knew his time was up and would only contest one election at the most.[>
[> The revelation, which was seen as further weakening the Prime Minister’s grip on power, means that even if he wins the next election the clock would be ticking on his premiership the moment he walked back into No 10.[>
The labourhome.org poll also found that the only minister less popular than Mr Brown is Chancellor Alistair Darling.[>
Foreign Secretary David Miliband – tipped as a possible successor to Mr Brown – scored better, with Health Secretary Alan Johnson top.[>
Another opinion poll yesterday revealed how little the British public now likes the PM, with Tory support at its highest level since David Cameron became leader three years ago.[>
The BPIX poll showed Labour trailing the Conservatives by 23 points, with support of 26 per cent compared with 49 per cent for the Tories.[>
Forty-four per cent said Mr Brown should resign immediately, while 85 per cent said he had performed worse than expected since becoming leader.[>
In contrast, 55 per cent said Mr Cameron had done better than they expected.[>
Half of those polled thought Mr Cameron was charismatic, against only three per cent for Mr Brown.[>
The Prime Minister is also viewed as arrogant, untrustworthy and money-grabbing – with more than four in 10 saying he would be the last of the three main party leaders to pay back a £20 loan.[>
Only one in 10 says Mr Brown represents change, against four in 10 for Mr Cameron.[>
The Tory leader is also seen as more “caring” by a proportion of nearly two to one, and is also considered to be a stronger leader – a quality once considered the preserve of “clunking fist” Mr Brown.[>
Many of the answers showed a massive turnaround since autumn last year when Mr Brown blew much public trust by hinting he was about to call an election before pulling back at the last minute.[>
A Tory spokesman said: “Long ago Gordon Brown lost the country’s support. Now his rank and file are deserting him in droves. The UK desperately needs a change.”[>

BROWN QUITS...SO WHAT,,,THE DAMAGE IS DONE
24.06.08, 5:26pm
Even if the Gloomy Broony were to put the nations' welfare at the top of his agenda what would it accomplish?? The awful severe damage inflicted on the UK's pride, military, law and order, well you know the list as well as I do,Brown's replacement cant undo anything and whomever the replacement was would still be relying on a bunch of incompetent fools that make me absolutely shudder every time I hear their pathetic attempts to be world class statesmen and women!!! They are totally unqualified to lead...no matter who's at the top.You need a new govt. new party new people ,people with guts and a "take no prisoner" attitude towards restoring Britain's pride in itself. If this new govt cant be found then get the hell out is my advice as soon as poss.I've read that Labour is bankrupt and so is the country..so whoever takes over is going to face enormous massive problems and I dont think the economy will survive unless you stop ALL UNNECCESSARY BENEFITS,but there are just so many people on benefits who shouldnt be that its beyond controlling???

TAX_IDERMY FOR BROWN?
23.06.08, 11:33pm
Madam Tussauds apparently do not want Brown as a waxwork model. Hardly surprising isn't it? But there is another option that would gladden the hearts of us common people - to see him stuffed.
Any trade unionist fancy doing a bit of taxidermy?

A Tory spokesman said: “Long ago Gordon Brown lost the country’s support. Now his rank and file are deserting him in droves. The UK desperately needs a change.”
.....and then the Conservative MEPs sent all their expenses money to the YES TO THE LISBON TREATY fund in Dublin , and the people really did think it was time for a real change...
UKIP.

23.06.08, 9:52pm
As long as we don't get a "Maggie" type night of the short knives, the sooner this pratt get's the boot the better. The labour party should quit. Thieves should quit. Rapists should quit. Exploiters should quit. Liars should quit. I've got a list of ten thousand here. Where did our perfect world go?. We should try juggling balls of smoke, we would have better results.
