A mostly charming film

IN Search Of A Midnight Kiss is a black-and-white slacker comedy about an LA-based failed writer (Scoot McNairy) reduced to trawling the internet to get a date on New Year’s Eve.

As he hooks up with the high-maintenance Vivian (Sara Simmonds), their night in the city plays out like a Woody Allen movie.

Only in the final minutes, with needless dramatic revelations, does this otherwise charming film slip-up.
