Gordon Brown's popularity falls to a new low, poll says

Friday May 30,2008

Gordon Brown's popularity among voters is the same as Sir John Major's at his lowest point and worse than Michael Foot.

A new poll puts Labour on 23 points - lower than during Mr Foot's reign as leader.

The YouGov poll puts the Conservatives on 47 - a lead of 24 points.

Reports said the poll - the first since Mr Brown's Crewe and Nantwich by-election drubbing - puts Labour on its lowest level of support since Gallup first asked people to declare their voting intention in 1943.

In the last month Labour has fallen three points and the Conservatives have risen three points. The Liberal Democrats are on 18 points.

When asked who would make the best Prime Minister, 39% of people polled said Tory leader David Cameron, a rise of 7% on last month. Mr Brown's rating fell 2% from April to 17%.

Only 15% of those surveyed were satisfied with Mr Brown - the same as during the worst years of the Major administration in the early 1990s.

LABOUR JUST DOESN'T GET IT

30.05.08, 11:53am

Mr Brown the British people are fed up with Labour. They are sick of the spin lies and contemptuous attitude you and your minsters show us all. Did you really think in the last Budget people believed you raised alcohol duty to stop drinking? come on Mr Brown you increased it just enough not to deter consumption but to maximize revenue. The increase in car duty was going to make us sell all our cars and buy new one's? The reason you have slumped to such a low level is that the British people believed you were going to be different to Mr Blair and New labour, that you were going to tackle real issues such as terrorism, immigration, violent crime, government waste, and above stop spinning. When you bottled the election everyone knew why but you started to spin. The British people then realised you were no different and as such treated you and your party the way you deserved. You just delayed their judgment.
Remember a statement from history, you can fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time. Abe Lincoln.

AND 'ANOTHER THING'

30.05.08, 11:53am

While i still have my soapbox stacked as high as i can get it ?

A word of 'wisdom' to his so called advisors , it's all a bit too late to 'advise' him on being just a bit more honest.

Brown would not know the truth , even if he was to wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and gave birth to it !!
