TORY VOW TO BANISH BENEFITS CULTURE

PLEDGE: Chris Grayling

Monday May 26,2008

By Alison Little Deputy Political Editor

THE Tories aim to target “street-corner benefit culture” among young people with a string of tough policy plans.

Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Chris Grayling will propose “boot camps” and other tough measures to tackle unemployment.

He is also expected tomorrow to halve the length of time the Tories expect a young person to be on benefits before being made to take part in work-related activity.

“For those who are struggling, there will be real help. For those who are not, there will be no opt-outs and we will end the street-corner benefit culture among young people which this Government has left to fester for the past 11 years,” Mr Grayling was due to say. A Tory government would target youngsters just “hanging around”. There will be employment “boot camps” and community work programmes.

He will say: “Young people who don’t find a job within three months will be referred automatically to a specialist employment provider, where they will be expected to take part in an intensive programme of work-related activity.’’

That is half the length of time promised by the Conservatives in previous welfare reform packages.

He will say that it contrasts with Government plans under which young people would wait a year before any substantial work programme and up to another six months if they got a job and then lost it.

A spokesman for Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell said: “Most young people find a job within six months. Extra  conditions after three months would be a waste of public cash as the current regime gets 85 per cent off benefits within six months.”

SCRAP THE WHOLE BENEFITS STRUCTURE...GO CONSERVATIVES!

26.05.08, 7:41pm

Benefits are the plague of our country where everyone in the world think its their god given right to come here and be given benefits....I for one think the structure shouldn't even exist in the 21st century, and when its no longer a system that is sustainable then see how quickly people will work when they have no other choice to survive or keep roofs over their heads...this country is walking towards its own desruction......so what will give 1st and who will win...I honestly don't know I just want to know where all the money is coming from while this appalling government and unelected prime minister destroy this once brilliant country..?

Support your local Conservatives and David Cameron to put an end to this appalling nightmare we are all finding ourselves in!

TORY VOW TO BANISH BENEFITS CULTURE

26.05.08, 6:22pm

A very plausible suggestion. However before that happens, methinks they will need to do 2 other things.

1) Scrap or rewrite the Insidious Human Rights Act in order that common sense shall prevail for the Law Abiding British Citizen.

2) Ban the interfering PC Brigade who have infiltrated just about every facet of British Society, our way of life and have eradicated just about every jot of common sense. Just like some Malignent cancerous growth that keeps on spreading without any real chance of stopping it under the current Administration.

Then and only then will we be able to make progress.

They'd sound a lot more credible, and 'in touch' with those boring people, the VOTERS,their EMPLOYERS, if they started with banning benefits for immigrants -ALL OF THEM.
