Avram Grant: From Russia with shove

Sunday May 25,2008

By John Richardson

Chelsea have fired manager Avram Grant – just three days after their loss to Manchester United in the Champions League final.

The Israeli coach’s position had been the subject of speculation all season, despite guiding the club to their first Champions League final.

But Wednesday’s defeat in Moscow seems to have settled his fate. Chelsea terminated Grant’s contract following two days of
discussions.

Frank Rijkaard, Sven-Goran Eriksson, Brian Laudrup and Roberto Mancini have all been touted as his potential successor.
