MUM'S TEEN KILLERS NAMED AND SHAMED
KILLERS: Young and Hayward
By Mark Reynolds
TWO teenage thugs were yesterday convicted of killing a young mother who was sexually assaulted, punched, stamped on and dumped in a river.
Lewis Hayward, 14, and 17-year-old Alex Young had spent the day smoking drugs and drinking wine and lager.
A judge made the decision to name and shame the pair, who were just 13 and 16 at the time of the attack on mother-of-two Helen Maughan.
Tests on her body revealed 22 injuries to her face and genitals. She had still been alive when she hit the water and died of drowning.
Young was found guilty of murder and Hayward of manslaughter. After the verdicts were announced it emerged that both of them had a history of violence and heavy drinking.
The judge adjourned sentencing but told Young he would be given an indeterminate term, meaning that he would only be released when no longer considered a danger to the public.
Despite their age, Mr Justice Bean lifted reporting restrictions, adding: “I see no reason why the public should not know the names and appearances of both young men involved in the death of Helen Maughan.”
The court heard how the youngsters bragged to friends about the killing .
When arrested, they blamed each other for beating their 5ft 1in victim before throwing her, naked from the waist down except for a sock, into the River Colne in Colchester, Essex, in May last year.
The jury at Chelmsford Crown Court heard how the boys had drunk wine and shared 20 bottles of Stella Artois lager with friends before a chance meeting with Miss Maughan.
Hayward told police the three of them sat on a bench next to the river and claimed Ms Maughan tried to kiss him before asking him for sex.
He said he refused, but the older boy became jealous and began arguing with the victim.
Sasha Wass, QC, prosecuting, said: “She tried to head-butt the older boy. According to the younger boy she was screaming.
“He told police the older defendant punched her about 20 times then elbowed her and stamped on her face.”
After the hearing, Detective Superintendent Tim Wills said: “This was an appalling crime and was particularly shocking given the age of the youths involved.”
Young, a martial arts and kick-boxing enthusiast, had previous convictions including common assault, affray and a burglary.
Hayward had reprimands and a conviction for burglary. Both had been expelled from school.
Sentencing will take place at the Old Bailey on June 20.

There are similar mentalities between these two and the pair that killed Jamie Bulger. They must never be released into society until they are too old and infirm to commit any more violent crimes. John Straffen spent the rest of his life in prison and he was a half wit, unlike these two who were fully aware of their actions at all times.
In the meantime, they should be spending the next twenty years picking up the soap in the prison showers and constantly being reminded of what they did to that poor woman.

WHEN
22.05.08, 8:49am
When will the punishment fit the crime. These two scumbags will be out in a few years when the bleeding heart liberals get to work. The only way to deal with a cancer is to destroy it or cut it out. They should be hanged immediately.

TEEN KILLERS

So these two boys had been drinking and taking drugs prior to the killing.
It is the policy of the British National Party that drug dealers should be put to death.
And what does the british national party have in mind for those who sell alcohol.

I merely observe the fact.
