Stars flocking to the luxurious French Riviera were sure to turn up the glitz at the 61st annual festival, stopping at nothing to ensure the festivities go into full throttle.

Superstar Angelina Jolie and boyfriend Brad Pitt were some of the first big names to hit the red-carpet, sparking a media frenzy with the blossoming Angelina unveiling the news that the couple's next baby bundle will be twins.

Ange's co-star and all-round funny man Jack Black let the news slip that the star will be 'Twingelina' in a few weeks in an exclusive video to promote their new blockbuster Kung Fu Panda.

Yet despite Black sparking a media frenzy with news of the actress' new arrivals, the School of Rock actor made sure he wasn't forced totally out of the limelight.

The comic opened the festival with a bang as he put on a lavish show with dozens of giant pandas showcasing their extra-special Kung Fu moves.

Stars were amazed as the actor joked around on the red-carpet, showing-off his talents for martial arts while surrounded by his black-and-white furry friends.

The extravagant show was a hit with the watching Hollywood glitterati who were all smiles as they made their way to the festival in the sunny south of France.

Eva Longoria wowed onlookers in a stunning white one-shouldered gown while Australian actress Cate Blanchett used the high-profile film fest to show-off her toned post-baby figure.

Newly-single singer Natalie Imbruglia looked relaxed in a simple berry-coloured gown, sparking rumours that the former Neighbours star is more than happy with her single status.
