Post-mortem examinations are expected to be carried out today on the bodies of two boys found dead in a car.

The children, aged two and six were found dead in a vehicle in an isolated car park near Lennoxtown around 10 miles from Glasgow.

The grim discovery was made on Crow Road at around 4.30pm on Saturday, Strathclyde police said.

Two ambulances were sent up to the scene, one is believed to have come back down with its lights flashing, the other following behind.

Strathclyde police said they were treating the deaths as suspicious last night and confirmed they were following a "positive line of enquiry".

Today a man who was found at the scene remains at Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary under police guard.

It is not yet known whether he was a relation of the dead children.

Strathclyde police confirmed that the vehicle was moved from the car park at around 11pm last night by a recovery lorry under police escort.

The B822 remains closed and officers were at the scene today scouring the isolated car park for traces of evidence.
