Story Image

Tuesday April 22,2008

Two men are appearing in court charged with terrorism offences.

Mohammed Abushamma, 20, from Islington, north London, and Qasim Abukar, 20, from Tufnell Park, north London, were arrested on Tuesday and charged under the Terrorism Act.

The men will appear before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in central London.

The charge sheet states that between March 17 and April 18 the men "engaged in conduct in preparation for giving effect to their intention of committing acts of terrorism contrary to section 5(1)(a) of the Terrorism Act 2006".

Sources said the men were arrested after getting off an inbound flight to Heathrow on Tuesday morning.

It is believed the charges relate to alleged planned terror attacks overseas.
