DIANA INQUEST HALTED AS NEW EVIDENCE EMERGES
Henri Paul was driving Diana the night of the crash
By Nicola McCafferty for express.co.uk
THE inquest into the death of Princess Diana has been dramatically halted today after the potential discovery of new evidence from the body of Henri Paul.
Coroner Lord Justice Baker stopped his summing-up to the jury after receiving an email from France referring to a possible sample from the body of Princess Diana's driver Henri Paul.
Previous tests on blood and other samples from Mr Paul, the Paris Ritz Hotel’s acting head of security, showed that he was three times the French drink-drive limit when he crashed the Mercedes in which Diana and her lover, Dodi Fayed, were killed.

Today's revelations will be welcomed by Dodi's father, Mohamed al Fayed, who has always believed that the samples were faked or switched, pointing to question marks over the labelling of vials of blood.
It had been believed that the samples were lost or destroyed and questions remained over a DNA test on one which appeared to show it was from Mr Paul.

But having gone six months down the road it seems desirable that we should bottom out this problem before we go any further

After briefly adjourning for legal argument, the coroner brought the jury back into court to send them away for an early lunch while an accurate translation of the email from France was obtained.
He told the jury: “The cause of asking you to retire was that this morning we received an email from the French giving information in relation in very broad terms, although we have not been able to get a proper translation of it yet, to do with samples and Henri Paul.
“Whether this contains anything that is new seems very doubtful.
“Whether it does contain anything that is relevant also seems pretty doubtful."
The Coroner added: “But having gone six months down the road it seems desirable that we should bottom out this problem before we go any further.”
The inquest, which has been running since October 2, has heard from around 250 witnesses giving evidence at the High Court in London as well as by video link from France, the US, Nigeria, Kenya and Australia.
Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed were killed in a car crash in the Alma tunnel in Paris in August 1997.

IT WILL LOOK VERY SUSPICIOUS INDEED IF LORD BAKER DOES NOT SHOW THE EMAIL, WON'T IT?
02.04.08, 8:07am
It iwll look as if there is another Condon and very suspicious if this email is not shown so that the public sees if it is irrelevant or not.
It is impossible to say that Lord Condon would not behave in the same way as the Police and have the same duty to protect the heir to the throne , who has not even been legally and Officially interviewed as Lord Stevens siad he was.
Where is the evidence or any mention of Charles Legal and Official Questioning by Lord Stevens which Lord Stevens so advertised?
How can Lord Baker say that some,
( all, those who say it was not an acciddent )
are unreliable witnesses when he accepts Rosa Monckton Lawson's outrageous hearsay saying she saw Diana having her period before her eyes, when this witness is so very closely MI6 linked whose loyalties are with the heir to the throne and Camilla and certainly not with Diana the rejected wife?
It is also evident that any evidence and blank denials from the MI6 are risible to say the least, as was the evidence from Phillip's Brigadier buddy, Lord Fellowes and Michael Jay who cannot but be protecting the MI6 and Charles.
If Lord Baker does not show the email it is adding to the highly suspicious and bias, as no French person would interrupt a summing up of such an inquest with NOTHING to say.

DRAMATICALLY HALTED? WELL I SUPPOSE A HEADLINE WITH THAT IN IT SELLS THE NEWSPAPERS - TO THE GULLIBLE
01.04.08, 6:00pm
I've started reading the Daily Express on certain subjects with a distinctly jaundiced eye. Talk about drama for drama's sake, the reporters have got it down to a "t."
But cool heads rule in this Inquest and on the shoulders of Coroner Justice Baker. He is very low key about it all. The way I read HIS WORDS AND NOT THE DAILY EXPRESS REPORTER'S INTERPRETATION OF HIS WORDS is that he is willing to review the new "evidence" but doesn't consider it to be of any significance. He wants to tie up all lose ends and considers that only reasonable in view of the six months' time spent on the Inquest - not to mention the money.
Comfort for Mohammad al Fayed? In his dreams! No one killed this couple. They were an accident waiting to happen, sad as it was. A lot of reputations have been called into question over it if not destroyed. Some have gone in for self-destruction at their own hands, such as the butler. And Mohammad al Fayed is a class act of his own in self-immolation.
Comfort? Fayed would do beter to visit a mosque.

That turned out to be a 'damp squib' summing up has now resumed.
