WE WON £3M - BUT WE'LL KEEP PLAYING THE LOTTERY

By Tom Morgan

A COUPLE who scooped a £3million jackpot on the lottery vowed yesterday “we’ll keep playing”.

Arthur Wright, 47, a factory worker who won on a lucky dip ticket in last Wednesday’s draw, added: “I played again on Saturday.

“I didn’t win anything, but I’ll keep on playing and I’ll keep haggling for bargains.

“I wanted to buy a new car at the weekend, a red Dodge Caliber automatic saloon – and I still haggled down the price. It’s just the kind of guy I am.”

As he celebrated with wife Jackie, 46, he revealed he nearly didn’t buy his ticket at all.

He said: “I’d just done a 12-hour shift and wanted to get home. I was thinking, the wife will have dinner on the table.

“Something made me change my mind and go for the ticket. I’ve had sleepless nights wondering what made me do it.”

The next day, when he found he’d won, he still thought it was “an elaborate practical joke”.

Jackie was shopping when Arthur rang to tell her they’d won £2,964,163. She said: “I just found out I was a millionaire and I was too shocked to shop.” The couple, who have two sons aged 10 and 12, said they will be careful with the windfall.

“We don’t want to live it up for 10 years then end up skint,” said Arthur.

They will buy a bigger house so the boys can stop sharing a bedroom, and take the family to Disney World, Florida.
