FERGIE: IT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD FOR RIO

Friday November 6 2009 byMauro Galluzzo for express.co.uk

MANCHESTER United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he is worried about Rio Ferdinand's ongoing injury problems after the defender was ruled out of Sunday’s clash against Chelsea.

The 30-year-old has failed to recover from a calf injury that has been plaguing him for a couple of weeks.

And his ongoing injury trouble is causing a headache for Ferguson.

He said: “There has been no improvement.

“We are having to look at something different because usually you are back from a calf injury within two or three weeks.

“But there is no sign of recovery from this injury so we are looking at whether it is to do with his lower back.”

However there was some good news for Ferguson as Nemanja Vidic is set to return for the eagerly-anticipated match.

The Serbian has missed two games due to a calf strain but returned to training earlier this week and is expected to be fit, along with £30.75million record signing Dimitar Berbatov, who missed Tuesday’s win over CSKA Moscow after taking a bang on his knee-cap.

Park Ji-sung (knee) is also out, while Gary Neville is suspended, so John O’Shea is set to return.

Team (from): Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Foster, O’Shea, Rafael, Brown, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Fabio, Valencia, Obertan, Anderson, Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, Nani, Giggs, Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Macheda.
