MURRAY LOOKS TO FUTURE

Murray is already looking to January

Thursday November 5,2009

By Alix Ramsay

NO ONE could ever accuse Andy Murray of not planning ahead.

With three tournaments to play before the end of the year and the Christmas training schedule to negotiate, British No1 Murray is already plotting his path to the Australian Open in January.

Today he plays Leonardo Mayer in the second round of the Valencia Open, his first tournament back at work after a six-week injury break with tendinitis in his left wrist. But while the time off left him unable to prevent a slide down the rankings from No2 to No4, he is still feeling better than ever.

“I want to train as hard as I can in Miami so I’m ready for the beginning of next year,” said Murray, who added that he felt no pain at all in his opening match on Tuesday.

“The wrist felt absolutely fine and I just didn’t really think about it at all, which is the important thing,” he said.
