THIS calf escaped the butcher's knife when a brush with frostbite left her without hind legs.
Meadow, a yearling Black Angus, is believed to be the first bovine recipient of double prosthetics.
Doctors were forced to amputate the calf's back legs in August after she was found in a paddock having lost her hooves and half her ears to severe frostbite.
Rancher Nancy Dickenson and her stepdaughter Martha found the 11-month-old and promptly bought her before shelling out thousands of pounds for doctors to go to work.
Vets and students from Colorado State University in the US fitted Meadow with her new hooves before watching her first wobbly steps.
She can now return to a life of frollicking in the fields - as a family pet this time.
Ms Dickenson said: "A few people have asked 'Is she going to be beef?' and I said 'Are you
kidding? This is my newest baby.'"
