Didier brace on return enough to send Blues into knockout stages

Wednesday November 4,2009

By Simon Yeend

CARLO Ancelotti last night insisted he would not swap Didier Drogba for any other striker in the world.

Chelsea hitman Drogba scored twice in a 2-2 draw at Atletico Madrid to put the Blues into the knockout stages of the Champions League.

“I don’t know if he is the best striker in the world,” said Ancelotti. “But I want to keep him and I wouldn’t want to change him for any other striker.”

Atletico’s £30million-rated Argentine striker Sergio Aguero also scored twice and Ancelotti mischievously suggested that he would make a perfect strike partner for Drogba. “I like him,” added Ancelotti. “I think Aguero can play with Drogba for sure.”

Manchester United joined Chelsea in the last 16 after Wayne Rooney came off the bench at Old Trafford to inspire a comeback against CSKA Moscow.

The Russians were leading 3-1 with six minutes remaining but, with Rooney unsettling their defence, Paul Scholes pulled one back and Antonio Valencia’s deflected shot in injury-time gave them the point they needed to qualify.
