RETIREMENTJUNE WHITFIELD TO STAR IN REMAKE OF THERE'S NO ONE QUITE LIKE GRANDMATuesday November 3 2009 byNicola McCafferty for Express.co.uk
The Absolutely Fabulous star today donned a black leather jacket and teamed up with a bearded biker on a
motorcycle for her cameo appearance in the new version of the much-loved festive number one.VETERAN actress June Whitfield will appear in the remake of the 1980's chart-topper There's No One Quite Like Grandma. Members of the St Winifred’s School Choir, who first sang the song as youngsters, have been reunited to record the track - 30 years after it knocked John Lennon off the Christmas number one spot in 1980. June, 84, said of her appearance: “I have played a whole variety of parts in my career, but this was something I really enjoyed - and it is one up for Granny-power.” The song will be re-released later this month as the Innocent Big Knit charity single.
