Danny Cadamarteri has found his feet at Tannadice

Sunday November 1,2009

By Stuart Anderson

WALTER Smith knows enough about Danny Cadamarteri from the pair’s spell together at Everton to flag up his threat to Rangers today.

Manager and striker will have a chat when they come face to face at Tannadice.

But Ibrox boss Smith has warned his troops to beware the Dundee United star and told them: “Don’t take your eyes of him for a second.

“Danny had already had a few games for Everton when I took over and I liked his enthusiasm. He was maybe a little inconsistent then but he was quite a bit younger and has gained experience since.”

In fact, hitman Cadamarteri is much-travelled, even if he seems to have lost his way somewhere down the line.

Fulham, Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield United, Bradford again, Gray’s Athletic, Leicester City, Doncaster and Huddersfield have all been staging posts along the way.

But Cadamarteri appears finally to have found home. Smith said: “Sometimes it takes a bit of a change of scenery to get a player going again. And looking from the outside Danny certainly seems to be enjoying it at Tannadice.

“He’s a good character and he will be a big benefit to United. It’s a place where we have found it difficult in recent years.

“But winning the title there last season was a big thing for us and it was probably the best we’ve played there since I returned to Rangers.”

Lee McCulloch and Madjid Bougherra look set to miss out once more and both are struggling for the midweek Champions League tie against Unirea in Bucharest.
