A DEVOTED Elvis Presley fan has picked up a clump of his idol's hair for a cool £9,400.
The lock of hair is believed to have been clipped from the King's quiff when he was inducted into the US army in 1958.
It was one of 200 items relating to Elvis that went under the hammer at Leslie Hindman
auctioneers in Chicago.
The collection, which included sweat-stained scarves, dressing gowns and records, had once belonged to Presley's a friend Gary Pepper.
Mr Pepper, who had cerebral palsy and died three years after Elvis in 1980, was also head of a Presley fan club called the Tankers.
One of the singer's shirts sold at the auction for a staggering £32,000, while a set of handkerchiefs used by Elvis during concerts were snapped up for £450.
His high school yearbook went for £1,318 and a signed photograph of the Jackson Five was taken for £4,392, according to sales figures listed on the auctioneer's website.
