HAVE NHS STANDARDS OF CARE SLIPPED BELOW ACCEPTABLE LEVELS?
WATCHDOG: Standards of care across 47 hospital trusts are not good enough
A DAMNING report into standards at Britain's hospital trusts has revealed 47 must improve or face fines or closures.
The new NHS regulator has warned one in eight trusts "must do better for their patients"
Care Quality Commission's chief executive Cynthia Bower said there must be rapid improvements in standards.
“They must do better for their patients. I want to ring alarm bells in the boardrooms of these organisations," she said.
After "rigorous assessment" fewer trusts were rated excellent for the quality of their care compared with last year’s figures.
More hospitals admitted failing to meet core standards on aspects of care such as A&E waiting times and more operations were cancelled than last year.
The fall in ratings was partly attributed to a more rigorous focus on key issues like hygiene and child protection, according to the CQC.

Next time - just ask them what time visiting hours are because your solicitor wants to pop in to take a few photos and maybe collect a few samples.
