ENGLAND FOURTH AS AUSTRALIA AVENGE HISTORIC DEFEAT

Fresh from their first defeat of the World Series against Jamaica, England still had a battle with Australia for third place.

After beating the Diamonds on Saturday for the first time since the early Eighties, Australia were out for revenge and took an early lead in the first quarter.

But a two-point shot from GA Pamela Cookey in the second quarter levelled the scores at 6-6.

Power play in the third quarter saw Australia seize eight crucial points while England trailed with a four-point gain.

It sealed the game for England's antipodean rivals, who matched the home side point-for-point in the last six minutes.
