ENGLAND forward Maurie Fa’asavalu will return from a broken arm when St Helens meet Leeds tomorrow in a blockbuster which will most likely decide the destination of the League Leaders Shield.

Fa’asavalu, above, suffered the break in the win at Warrington in July and Saints have missed his impact off the bench. But coach Mick Potter will be without international second-rower Jon Wilkin because of a knee injury which could harm his Four Nations chances.

“He couldn’t get through training today,” said Potter. “He has a bit of floating cartilage in there and at some stage he’ll need a clear-out. We’re trying to stave it off to the end of the season, but I wouldn’t think it would rule him out for the whole tournament.”

Leeds lead St Helens on points difference after scoring 144 in their last two matches and meet Salford in their final match of the regular season tomorrow week.

Saints, whose last League game is at home to the Catalans Dragons, have lifted the shield for the last four seasons and won on their last two trips to Headingley. Prop Bryn Hargreaves, loose forward Andrew Dixon and half-back Kyle Eastmond return after missing the 12-10 win over Huddersfield.

Potter is considering one more signing for next season and confirmed Scott Moore would return from his season-long loan spell with Huddersfield.

Hull prop Paul King is mulling over a four-year contract offer to join Championship front-runners Barrow, but Lote Tuqiri is set to turn his back on a return to rugby league and join French Union side Bayonne.

Danny Tickle has had a two-match ban for a dangerous tackle in Hull’s August 21 win over Harlequins quashed after appeal.
