CUSTODY: Debbie Rowe Saturday July 4,2009 By Darren McCaffreyDEBBIE Rowe, the mother of Michael Jackson’s two older children, has appeared in public for the first time since the singer’s death.
As she tended horses on her estate north of Los Angeles, her lawyer was drawing up plans for her to gain custody of the children. It was a moment of calm ahead of a bitter custody battle with the Jackson family. Earlier, the 50-year-old rancher had told a television interviewer she intended to fight for custody of Prince Michael Jr, 12, and Paris Katherine, 11. As the biological parent she would be first in line to obtain the children unless a judge determined that would not be in their best interest. Rowe married Jackson in 1996 and filed for divorce three years later.
