SCOTTISH HOPE: Mike Blair

Friday July 3,2009

SCOTLAND stars Mike Blair and Nathan Hines last night watched their final hopes of a Lions Test cap going up in smoke.

The pair had been praying for a call-up to Ian McGeechan’s squad for the third tilt at the world champ Springboks at Johannesburg tomorrow.

But Scots skipper Blair and lineout specialist Hines have been snubbed again.

However, hooker Ross Ford is once more a substitute and he will be hoping for a taste of glory having been left on the bench in Pretoria last weekend.

English pair Riki Flutey and Joe Worsley make their international Lions debuts at Ellis Park.

Flutey forms a centre partnership with Ireland’s Tommy Bowe, who moves in from the wing.

Ugo Monye and Shane Williams start out wide, while Andrew Sheridan and Phil Vickery are named in the front row. Worsley and Martyn Williams are both named in a new-look back row.
