GREEN TAXES ARE EXCESSIVE

Monday November 2,2009

THE European Union’s emissions trading scheme already costs the average British family £117 per year in higher gas and electricity bills.

It is therefore dismaying to learn that Brussels is set massively to increase  the burden, ostensibly to combat climate change.

With further rises in air passenger duty also being predicted, it is clear that the European elite intends to use fears about global warming to justify a new tax grab.

But it should be made to answer the following question: if green taxes should rise to protect the environment, which taxes should fall to protect family living standards?
