EXPRESS COMMENT

TONY BLAIR AS PRESIDENT OF THE EU IS ABHORRENT

Wednesday October 28,2009

THE prospect of the European Union eliminating what is left of Britain’s rebate and imposing its own taxes upon this nation is an outrage.

Despite widespread public dissent across the continent, the EU’s bureaucratic elite is still hell-bent on building a
superstate.

A war cry of democrats down the ages has been: no taxation without representation. And the place for our representative democracy remains, for all its faults, the House of Commons.

As David Cameron argued yesterday, the time has come for Brussels to give up its profoundly undemocratic bid to create a country called Europe and to accept that the EU can only work as a loose grouping of nation states.

The very idea of Tony Blair swanking around the world as the EU’s president, making binding commitments on behalf
of the people of 27 nations, none of whom has elected him, is abhorrent.

So is the thought that EU Commission boss Jose Manuel Barroso is already conniving at the next act of nation-building before the hated Lisbon Treaty has even been finally imposed.

The case for Britain being given the referendum it was promised on Lisbon remains unanswerable. The case for a referendum on whether to get out of  the EU altogether grows stronger by the day.

TONY BLAIR

Lots of people and things are abhorrent in politics,for instance the wealthy can bung money to political parties and next thing you know they pop up in the House of Lords,and good luck to them. I wish I could join them and have a vote on matters that effect the whole of our nation even though I have never been elected.OLCROM.

IT IS AN INSULT

28.10.09, 8:56pm

Not trusted by many of his own people,booted out by his own party,who apparently like him now, might be jobs going on the gravy train.
It is not feasable that a man that would not give his electorate a voice by denying them the promised referendum should not even be in the running. About time the teflon rubbed off its lasted too long

CAMERON REFUSES TO CONFRONT REALITY.

<<As David Cameron argued yesterday, the time has come for Brussels to give up its profoundly undemocratic bid to create a country called Europe and to accept that the EU can only work as a loose grouping of nation states>>
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cameron is not saying this to Euroland... He is saying it for the ears of the British. He needs to SEEM eurosceptic because he needs the votes to produce another pro european government.
What Cameron WISHES AND HOPES for, and reality ,are two different things.
CAMERON IS NOT "SOUND".
