Walter Becker is one half of Steely Dan, the smart alec New York group whose run of urbane albums are a high point of Seventies rock.

Circus Money, Becker’s first solo statement in 14 years, has many welcome Dan elements: tight, snaky grooves, disarming soulfulness and songs that take a dim view of modern life.
