Pampering in the swiss alps

Saturday November 7,2009

By Catherine Boyle

PAMPERING ON SKIS

You’ve just come off the slopes after a hard yet exhilarating day’s skiing and, boy, are your thighs letting you know they’re alive! So too are your shoulders from all that shussing; and, quite possibly, your bottom – from landing on it once too often. You are dreaming of having someone massage those tender bits before falling into a steaming bath.

Well now, thanks to fabulous door-to-door service from Beauty And The Piste (dialling from the UK: 0041 79 838 9314/www.beautyandthepiste.com) that’s exactly what you can do. The mobile massage is available in the Swiss ski resorts of Nendaz, Verbier and Crans-Montana. It also operates in France and London. Depending on your condition or desire, they’ll treat you for everything from a rehabilitating sports massage to a relaxing aromatherapy one.

Or you could just opt for a spot of pampering in the form of a manicure, pedicure or facial. Therapists are fully trained and registered by the Swiss Authorities. Treatments can be pre-booked from the resort or via their website to receive a discount of 15 per cent. Sports Massage for 45 minutes from £55. Facials from £75.

SNAPS IN THE CITY

Fancy strolling along the iconic Champs-Elysées or soaking up the atmosphere at the Coloseum in Rome? In just the click of a camera you can explore some of Europe’s most popular cities courtesy of Casio. From Monday, anyone buying Casio’s new Exilim EX-H10 camera, £280, below, will receive a voucher entitling them to one night’s accommodation in at least a three-star hotel and return flights to a host of European cities.

Pack your new camera, complete with 4x digital zoom and a 24mm wide-angle lens and jet off to Nice, Berlin, Prague or Brussels by simply redeeming your voucher online at www.exilim.co.uk/citybreak. Departure airports include London, Manchester and Edinburgh. The offer runs until January 31 and is valid for travel until December 17, 2010.

HIT THE ICE

Skate into action at the Natural History Museum Ice Rink (0844 847 1576/www.nhmskating.com) this winter, left. The London attraction opened its rink on Thursday. Surrounded by 76,000 fairy lights it is located on the museum’s east lawn. Visitors can grab a mug of chocolate or glass of mulled wine in the café bar or take a ride on the classic fairground carousel. There’s also a special children’s rink. Open until January 17, from £11.50 per adult; £8 per child.

TAKE FLIGHT

Bring a little Caribbean sunshine into this winter as Virgin Atlantic (0844 874 7747/www.virgin-atlantic.com) launches flights to Puerto Rico today. Fancy sipping mojitos on Condado Beach, snorkelling around the shallow reefs off San Juan or trekking through the volcanic island’s rugged mountains? The new Boeing 747-400 service will be running every Saturday between Gatwick and San Juan. Return flights from £549.
