Putting the finishing touches to a perfect evening, her husband Jay-Z also walked away with the best urban award.

Dedicating the award for best video to Jay-Z, Beyoncé, 28, told the audience at the O2 World in Berlin: “OK, there is only one person I want to thank and that is Jay for putting a ring on it.”

British singer Leona Lewis, 24, may have lost out to Beyoncé on best female but she looked every inch a winner as she performed her song Happy.
