ROBIN Wright Penn impresses in this engaging journey through a woman’s mid-life crisis.

Seemingly contented with her marriage to elderly publisher Alan Arkin, Penn discovers everything starts to unravel when the couple take up residence in a comfy retirement community.

Flashbacks to her tumultuous past help us understand why she clings so tenaciously to the present in Rebecca Miller’s wry adaptation of her own novel.
