A total ban on adverts for unhealthy food and drink products around TV programmes for under-16s has come into force.

Why has everything got to be banned as we ALL are silly kids that cannot be trusted.
Shouldn't we be responsible for what we eat,as for children parents should decide what they want their children to eat not TV,government or anyone else.
We complain bitterly about the Nanny State and them look toward it to control our weaknesses by banning things which are within our power to control ourselves. With all this banning adverts, will it make an atom of difference, if people really want something bad enough they will find a way of getting it

There is no such thing as unhealthy or bad foods. The problem is unhealthy and bad diets compounded by lack of exercise. It`s as simple as that, but this Government loves banning things.

When I was a youngster it was a commonly held belief that gold top milk was "better" for you than other varieties. 60-70 years ago doctors would often recommend asthma sufferers to take up smoking. We even have political leaders telling us that islam is a religion of peace. How wrong can you get?

Today's UK parents are the product of an education system which has, for the last three decades, turned out people who are basically dumb and need to rely on the nanny state to save them from the perils of commercial exploitation. the irony, of course, is that the nanny state is exploiting a people who have become so compliant that they are prepared to accept all manner of stealth tax and punitive legislation. Poor fools they.

Pound to a pinch of pig muck, that when they extend this to shutting down take-aways, the first to go will be the traditional English Fish and Chip Shop !!

Parents should be instilling discipline into their children as to what they eat - not this Soviet-style goverment of Comrade Brown's!!
