HINDSIGHT IS A WONDERFUL THING
02.11.07, 8:28pm
Admittingly it was a terrible accident and an error in judgement by the police BUT what if next time the police hesitate and a situation ends up with many innocent people killed these same do gooders will be on their backs again asking why it wasn't prevented. The police these days are always in a no win situation whatever they do with all to many people prepared to find fault.
With all respect to the victim in this case perhaps if he hadn't been over here illegally he would still be alive now.
We all now live in a very dangerous world and the sooner we all wake up to this fact we may understand that in these kind of situations there will sometimes be mistakes made.

MENENES
02.11.07, 3:11pm
itshim has a very valid point, the man had overstayed his visa, so should not even have been here. I don't mean this as an excuse to kill him, but the police were in a no-win situation and if he had stopped it would not have ended so tragically. Just imagine though, if he had been a suicide bomber the carnage he could have caused. The police erred on the side of caution and should not be blamed.

BLAIR

He should resign, whatever the right or wrongs of this case,he has shown himself to be inept and arrogant.Even ex plod commentators have been slating his handling of this case when normally they stick together.Cressida Dick who was in nominal control of the operation has spent her time blaming all and sundry of her subordinates. Will it be another case of authority without responsibilty.I expect the lady who brings the tea trolley round Scotland Yard to carry the can.

MET CHIEF BLAIR REFUSES TO QUIT OVER MENEZES
02.11.07, 8:47am
When the Police go out on a shoot to kill mission, as professionals the very least we should expect from them is to know who they are shooting at....... the basis of this verdict!

BLAIR

The police have a very difficult job to do,and a tragic mistake was made. However the real blame for this event lies with the islamofascists who created the situation in the first place

DON'T BE HERE ILEGALLY
01.11.07, 8:04pm
So he was wrongly shot! but if he was not here wrongly he would not have been. If he had a visa he could have walked upright, if he did not use cocain he would not have looked shifty. The Police did a good job in trying to protect us. Are the ones complaining going to complain if the police miss out the next time suicide bombers strike in our country.
Go to de Menezes country and try complaining of police brutality you will realise just how luck you are to be here

AND NOR SHOULD HE...
01.11.07, 7:36pm
It is a tragedy that Menezes was killed and my sympathies to his family, truly. But given the context of when it happened, and what must have been going through those policemans minds, with split second decisions needed to be made? However horrific, it was wrong place and wrong time. We should all ask ourselves what we would have done. If H&S rules were broken then we should learn from them but a knee jerk reaction is unnecessary.

BLAIR REFUSES TO RESIGN
01.11.07, 7:34pm
Whatever happened to: "The Buck Stops Here.
Its refreshing to here that mikal favours the Death Penalty for "having a false visa, using cocaine, coming and going from where he lived covertly, and using anti surveillance techniques".

BLAIR REFUSES TO RESIGN
01.11.07, 7:01pm
This arrogant man can't stay in his job after his force has been exposed as legalised killers in court.
How can a man that is wearing clothing that could not be described as loose, be carrying the kind of bomb that the previous bombers had.
The others had large backpacks.
Why is it that a few officers could have grabbed him and were told not to and yet, when they were asking for clarity about shooting to kill, nobody was there to give an answer, how convienient.
This case is nothing short of a legal murder, for now anyway, the people that shot this man should stand trial for murder. The police cannot think that they can do this kind of thing without paying the price, the first payment must be the sacking of Sir Ian Blair, the second part must be the removal of his title.
The cost of a life must be always paid by the taker of it. In full.

YOU SHOULD RESIGN
01.11.07, 6:35pm
The Met chief Blair should resign over this tragedy and miscarriage of justice, not to mention the clear incompetence of senior officers. Without a doubt, such people are aiding the mockery of society today.
Such people hold the ghoul to expect the citizens to be accountable and responsible for their own actions, so should those who choose place themselves on some idiotic pedestal.
Met chief Blair has made a mockery of the modern police force and should have the decency to go now. It happened on his watch, so take the responsibility and go...

WHO SHOULD RESIGN?
01.11.07, 5:48pm
Poor Jean Charles died because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. To call him an innocent person is wholly wrong. I have heard no evidence at all to substantiate this. His supporters continue to justify the fact that having a false visa, using cocaine, coming and going from where he lived covertly, and using anti surveillance techniques is normal. The media is full of comments by his supporters and none by the mainstream who realize that he is a victim of circumstance. In Brazil 100 people a day are killed, many by the police. We hear none of this. There was a war going on at the time in London. He is a victim of Moslem terrorism, not police incompetence.
If anyone should resign it should be the hundreds of Muslim leaders who do nothing to stop terrorism.
