US Presidential pardons (Clemency)

I have no wish to get into the rights and wrongs on whether the Lockerbie Bomber should or not have been released or if their was business deals in the background. What I do object to is when we have the President and the Director of the FBI openly criticising a legal system when the have a similar system which is used on a regular basis.

It may surprise any reader to know that the US Presidential Pardon has been used since the days of George Washington approximately 20,000 times. In recent history it was applied by;
Bush Senior - 189 cases,
Clinton - 456 cases, &
Bush - 75 cases,
And no doubt Obama will use it at his end of term in office.

The above are not just releases from prison, but full pardons for convicted criminals. Once again it is the playground bully who does not get his way and starts to throw his toys out of the pan.
