Oh dear'''

So, 1 in 4 people had drunk more than 2 pints in one session the week previous. How shocking.
If the £2.7billion cost is putting intolerable strain on the health service imagine how much strain there would be if everyone stopped drinking and the government lost the £30billion taxes it gets from the sale of alcohol.
According to these "experts" people like my father spent the whole war binge-drinking due to the daily rum ration in the navy. As for those Spitfie pilots ,dowinng 7 or 8 pints after a hard dayand then going out and flying those dangerous machines.
Paul Newman drank a 24 bottle crate of beer every day. Who would most women have preferred? Him or Professor gilmore or any of these moaning minnies?
And will they stop going on about 24 hour drinking. We still have the shortest opening hours in Europe for the person who likes to drink socially. Hardly any pubs open for longer than 12 hours. Just because some supermarkets open for 24 hours doesn't mean we are being told to indulge in 24 hour drinking. you can buy toothpaste but it doesn't mean you brush your teeth for 24 hours.
