My heart goes out to the family of Rhys Jones, their tragic loss is the result of a mindless killing between what appears to be rival gangs, with poor little Rhys caught right up in their crossfire.
Clearly the parents of Rhys are good caring parents who loved their children and have given them a loving stable family home.
The stark contrast between the parents of Rhys an the Mc Cann's is phenomenal, at least Rhys didn't come to harm from parental neglect or abandonment.
I can sense Rhys is very much still around his family in spirit, his presence is so strong around them. He will always be with them in this sense.
I have a daughter of 17 who shocked me the other day when we were both reading news reports online about this tragic story, she said that kids she chats to online had admitted to her that they own guns, most of these live overseas, but she tells me that many of them have said that some 'rapper' by the name of "5o cents" was shot 18 times and has survived, and that the kids she talks to think that if he made it then anyone else being shot will too. .....
So do other kids, perhaps in these gangs in Liverpool, who shot Rhys think along the same lines?
What sort of a society is it to be a hero because you got shot 18 times by kids with guns? So this 50 Cents guy is a sort of icon who might be giving kids the wrong impression about guns, shouldn't this sort of heroism be looked into as well as bad parenting?
The parents of these evil murderers need to be looked into as well, I wonder if they know what their kids are going around doing....murdering innocent schoolboys in cold blood with guns? And if they don't know that their kids are going this why don't they know?
Many years ago when Dunblane happened, I wrote to Paddy Ashdown MP, urging him to see what he could do about putting CCTV cameras on every street, road, lane and sqaure in the UK, have trustworthy residents raise funds to fund this and man it in turns and use lottery mo ey to help this cause too. I feel that only by doing this will we stop crime, stop terrorism, stop mindless thuggery and killing and abuse against decent people, by all manner of criminals, burglars, muggers, road ragers and the like.
Get these criminals caught on CCTV footage and it will lessen the burden on police investigating, which is time consuming and not always effective. We would all feel safer as well.
Those who oppose this would have something to hide and those who sanction it are decent people wanting their kids and elderly relatives and other loved ones to enjoy the rightful protection they deserve.
The only deterrent now must be to take steps to prevent crime, not to merely hope to catch those responsible and whilst they are on the lose in the meantime are free to kill and harm again.
As my late best friend was dying she spoke some very profound words to me which I will never forget....
"This is a sick planet, full of sick people, doing sick things to one another"
How right she was, she died of cancer age 56 fighting to stay alive to be here for her two daughters, she was a single parent, like I am, and whilst she was fighting to live having looked after her daughters and herself well, drug addicts abused their bodies in a flat above and they got to live whilst my friend died so young and her 28 year old daughter threw herself under a train 2 years later as she was unable to cope with the loss of her mother.
Tragedy is all around us and more tragedy is waiting to happen.....
I just hope these evil murderers are found fast and locked up for the rest of their lives, they are the scruge of society and they are sick and pure evil personified. They are not fit to live amongst decent people.
I fully support the family of Rhys, who I would be honoured to help in any way.
I think the focus now should be to start a fund to rid the UK of guns not support the Mc Cann's whose daughter was taken as a result of their neglect and abandonment. Here is a family who deserve full support and sympathy their kids are a credit to them as they are to their kids.
I feel sorry for Maddy and the Twins but have no time for the Mc Cann's but I fully support the parents of Rhys and their family.
There is a biblical passage that says :
"People have entertained angels without ever knowing it"
In Rhys and Maddy that is precisely what we all did.
Heartfelt condolences for the loss of Rhys and Maddy and to the family of Rhys and the Mc Cann Twins.
