most of these are

Scabby,obnoxious and selfish young offenders.
They are much too selfish to do them selves serious harm.
They usually wait until night staff are on and all the prison is locked up,they scratch their arms and immediately ring for assistance in the hope of being escorted to the prison hospital and preferential treatment.
Obviously there are occasions when they mean business and they warrant special care but 99% are attention seekers.
