Nuclear power decision this week

Published: Monday January 7,2008 by Sanny

My conclusions from a much longer post in the Herald: -

Conclusion:
Nuclear Fission is dangerous and expensive over its total lifetime. It also presents a strategic target for terrorists. This option must be a last resort.
Wind Power: Total contribution is insignificant and detracts from more viable solutions.
Hydro Power: Whilst this can and does make a significant contribution it cannot supply the total requirement.
Wave, Tidal and Sea Current: As the technology develops this will become the resource of choice when combined with Hydro.
Coal: This well proven system can meet the requirements over the short term of say a 20 to 30 year timescale whilst other systems are developed.
Nuclear Fusion is way into the future – if ever.
